• RAL is one of the oldest experts for labeling worldwide. The quality and test specifications for products and services are developed, constantly updated and neutrally monitored by independent experts in a public consultation process.

RAL quality marks signal a particularly high quality of products and services to consumers, companies and public clients. Products and services with RAL quality marks stand for economic efficiency, sustainability, environmental friendliness, safety, customer orientation and staff competence. There are currently around 150 RAL quality marks that guarantee that products and services meet the defined, high quality requirements that go far beyond norms, legal provisions or minimum standards.

RAL Deutsches Institut für Gütesicherung und Kennzeichnung e. V. has been responsible for the recognition of RAL quality marks in the product and service sector since 1925. Reliable compliance with the high quality requirements is ensured by a dense network of continuous internal and external monitoring, to which the manufacturing companies and suppliers voluntarily submit. As an objective and interest-neutral label, RAL quality marks meet the increasing demands of consumers and stand for their protection. The RAL quality assurance system is governed by private law.

  • RAL Colors is the world's leading color standard for professional users in industry, trade, architecture and design. Over 2,500 shades offer maximum precision and a wide selection across the entire color spectrum.

RAL Logo License is available to all awarding bodies and institutions that want to market their labels or brands independently and monitor their use in advertising. RAL is also responsible for market monitoring and misuse prosecution of the Stiftung Warentest test logo and the Grüner Knopf, as well as being the regulator for the Nutri-Score in Germany on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

RAL Umwelt has been the awarding authority for the world's oldest environmental label, the Blue Angel, since 1978 and for the EU Ecolabel in Germany since 1992. Both labels stand for particularly environmentally friendly products. All products must undergo a strict test procedure before they are allowed to bear the ecolabels. Both labels provide guidance for sustainable purchasing decisions.

  • RAL standards are quality-promoting, testing or other regulatory rules for products or services. In particular, they promote consumer protection and stand for clear value orientation.
