  • Manganese Greensand for Filters

    Standard [CURRENT] 2015

    AWWA B 102:2015

    Manganese Greensand for Filters

This standard describes manganese greensand used in pressure and gravity filters to remove dissolved iron, manganese, radium, arsenic, and hydrogen sulfide for water supply service applications. It discusses the placement, handling, preparation, and regeneration of manganese greensand media. Although manganese greensand filters frequently employ gravel and anthracite filter materials, they have been omitted from this standard with reference to the document ANSI/AWWA B100, Standard for Granular Filter Material, which covers these materials in detail. Major revisions made to the standard in this edition include the following: the references in Sec. 2 were updated with current titles; and modifications were made to conform to AWWA standard wording.

  • Reclaimed Water Program Operation and Management

    Standard [CURRENT] 2014

    AWWA G 481:2014

Reclaimed Water Program Operation and Management

This standard describes the critical requirements for the effective operation and management of a reclaimed water program. Reclaimed water, for the purposes of this standard, is treated domestic wastewater that is at all times adequately and reliably treated to the level appropriate for the end use. This is the first edition; as such, there are no major revisions.

  • Design of Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe

    Standard [CURRENT] 2014

    AWWA C 304:2014

Design of Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe

This standard defines the methods to be used in the structural design of buried prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) under internal pressure. These methods are provided for the design of pipe subjected to the effects of working, transient, and field-test load and internal pressure combinations. The design procedures of this standard are applicable to lined-cylinder pipe (LCP) having inside diameters of 16 in. through 60 in. (410 mm through 1,520 mm) and to embedded-cylinder pipe (ECP) having inside diameters of 24 in. (610 mm) and larger. The design for longitudinal hydrostatic thrust restraint of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe is not addressed in this standard. See AWWA Manual M9, Concrete Pressure Pipe, for information on this topic.

  • Prestressed Concrete Pressure Pipe, Steel-Cylinder Type

    Standard [CURRENT] 2014

    AWWA C 301:2014

Prestressed Concrete Pressure Pipe, Steel-Cylinder Type

This standard describes the manufacture of circumferentially prestressed concrete pressure pipe with a steel cylinder and wire reinforcement in diameter sizes 16 in. (410 mm) through 144 in. (3,660 mm) manufactured with a steel cylinder and wire reinforcement. Larger sizes have been manufactured based on the concepts presented in this standard. The standard describes two types of prestressed pipe: (1) lined-cylinder pipe with a core composed of a steel cylinder lined with concrete and subsequently wire-wrapped and coated with premixed cement mortar, and (2) embedded-cylinder pipe with a core composed of a steel cylinder encased in concrete and subsequently wire wrapped and coated with premixed cement mortar. The structural design of prestressed concrete pipe for internal pressure and external load is not presented in this standard but is the subject of ANSI/AWWA C304, Design of Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe. ANSI/AWWA C301 also does not include requirements for handling, delivering, laying, field testing, or disinfecting disinfection of pipe. See AWWA Manual M9, Concrete Pressure Pipe, for this information, as well as certain supplementary design considerations related to thrust restraint, subaqueous installations, and installation in corrosive environments.

  • Wire- and Strand-Wound, Circular, Prestressed Concrete Water Tanks

    Standard [CURRENT] 2013

    AWWA D 110:2013

Wire- and Strand-Wound, Circular, Prestressed Concrete Water Tanks

The intent of this standard is to describe current recommended practice for the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of wire- and strand-wound, circular, prestressed concrete water-containing structures with the following four types of core walls: Type I - cast-in-place concrete with vertical prestressed reinforcement; Type II - shotcrete with a steel diaphragm; Type III - precast concrete with a steel diaphragm; and Type IV - cast-in-place concrete with a steel diaphragm. This edition of the standard has been edited throughout and includes revisions to stated definitions and terms to achieve a higher degree of consistency among the various AWWA standards. The technical revisions to this standard reflect current thinking and construction practices. They are too numerous to include here and can be found in the Foreward section of the standard.

  • Geomembrane Materials for Potable Water Applications

    Standard [CURRENT] 2011

    AWWA D 130:2011; ANSI/AWWA D130-11:2011

Geomembrane Materials for Potable Water Applications

This standard pertains to geomembrane materials supplied in sheet form for lining, covering, or lining and covering potable water reservoirs. The successful application of this standard is dependent on an appropriate site evaluation, design, material selection, construction, as well as operations and maintenance. This standard includes requirements for material properties, fabrication, and installation. AWWA Manual M25 complements this standard by providing supplemental definitions of terms, as well as design, installation, operation, and maintenance considerations for geomembrane systems. Major revisions made to this edition of the standard include: standard title was updated; Section 3, Definitions, was updated; Sec. 4.5.5, Repairs, was updated; and, Table 2, Quality-control testing, was updated.
