This part of ISO 6892 specifies the method for tensile testing of metallic materials and defines the mechanical properties which can be determined at room temperature.
A National Foreword gives information on indices for the percentage elongation after fracture.
This extensive revision contains a number of modifications and developments, including the following:
- The standard describes two methods of testing speeds available. The recommendation to use the method based on strain rates has been included in the main part of the standard.
- A detailed description for the adjustment of the testing rate for the determination of the proof strength in method B has been added.
- Annex F on the estimation of the crosshead separation rate in consideration of the stiffness (or compliance) of the testing equipment has been revised and extended.
- Annex G on the determination of the modulus of elasticity of metallic materials using a uniaxial tensile test has been added.
