DIN EN IEC 61535:2024-12

This document applies to two-wire, up to five-wire installation couplers, including protective conductors, where applicable, with a rated voltage up to and including 500 V AC or DC and a rated connecting capacity up to and including 10 mm² for permanent connection in electrical installations. An installation coupler consists of an installation female connector and an installation male connector for permanent connection. This document specifies the requirements and tests for installation couplers, covering all mechanical and electrotechnical aspects for the installation and use of these connecting elements in order to enable safe electrical installation. Installation couplers with additional contacts for voltages other than mains voltages are outside the scope of this document. Installation couplers according to this standard not intended to be engaged or disengaged under load nor to be engaged or disengaged other than during first installation or during reconfiguration or maintenance of the wiring system in which installation couplers have been installed. This means that installation couplers are intended for infrequent use only. Installation couplers are not suitable for use in place of socket-outlet systems. Installation couplers are not suitable for use in place of devices for connecting luminaires (DCLs) according to IEC 61995 (all parts) or in place of luminaire supporting couplers (LSCs). The standard differs from DIN EN IEC 61535 (VDE 0606-200):2020-08 as follows: a) introduction of the term "live part" based on IEC 61140; b) additional optional cross-media documentation, for example labeling with a QR code; c) correction for consistent use of the terms earth, earthing contact, earthing circuit, and protective earth(ing); d) addition of a missing clause on conformity in 13.3; e) update of Figure D.1 in Annex D; f) inclusion of a new Annex F for requirements in cold climates. Installation couplers in accordance with this document are used, for example, in prefabricated houses, commercial showrooms, installation cavities such as raised floors or suspended ceilings, partition walls and all similar applications, or in cable support systems, cable routing systems, cable duct systems or in furniture in accordance with IEC 60364-7-713.
