This standard deals with the safety of electric kitchen machines for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. This standard recognizes the internationally accepted level of protection against hazards such as electrical, mechanical, and thermal hazards, as well as fire and radiation hazards from electrical appliances when operated properly in accordance with the instructions for use. It also covers unusual situations that are nevertheless likely to occur in practice and takes into account the way in which electromagnetic phenomena can affect the safe operation of appliances. This standard does not apply, for example, to food waste disposers (see IEC 60335-2-16) and food processors intended for commercial use (see IEC 60335-2-64). Typical appliances are blenders, can openers, centrifugal juicers, citrus presses, and cream whippers.
This document replaces DIN EN 60335-2-14:2017-12; VDE 0700-14:2017-12 .
