This part of IEC 62056 specifies the DLMS/COSEM application layer in terms of structure, services and protocols for COSEM clients and servers, and defines how to use the DLMS/COSEM application layer in various communication profiles. The responsible committee is DKE/K 461 "Messeinrichtungen und -systeme für Elektrizität" ("Measuring devices and systems for electricity") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
