Overview

The standard DIN EN 12166 specifies the composition, property requirements and dimensional tolerances for copper and copper alloy wire, finally produced by drawing, rolling or extruding, intended for general purposes, spring and fastener manufacturing applications. The sampling procedures and the test methods for verification of conformity to the requirements of this standard are also specified. The European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 133 "Copper and copper alloys" (secretariat: DIN). Regarding German collaboration, the responsible Committee is Working Committee NA 066-02-04 AA "Strangpress- und Zieherzeugnisse" ("Extruded and drawn products") at FNNE.
