System identifiers are used in connection with barcodes and 2D codes to name and identify a specific data structure. A number of system identifiers have already been defined either in standards or in user recommendations. ISO/IEC 15418, for example, contains a reference to the system identifiers listed in ANSI MH10.8.2. However, there are also other system identifiers that are described in national standards or user recommendations. It therefore makes sense to compile a list of all system identifiers that have already been assigned in a single document, making them more easily accessible, because full interoperability in automatic identification can only be ensured once all system identifiers that have already been assigned have been integrated into the interface of the logistics systems. System identifiers, as listed in this document, are primarily intended for use in combination with barcodes or 2D codes. However, the same system identifiers can also be used directly or adapted in conjunction with RFID technology. This document provides a list of all system identifiers that have already been assigned. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 043-04-31 AA "Automatische Identifikation und Datenerfassungsverfahren" ("Automatic Identification and Data Capture Techniques") at DIN Standards Committee Information Technology and IT Applications (NIA).
This document replaces DIN V 66403:2006-03 .
