This document is applicable to compression seals in the form of round profiles (circular cross-section) made of closed-cell elastomer with a closed surface and for sealing or covering joints in concrete against soil moisture, non-pressing or pressing water. This document is applicable for covering joints in masonry against soil moisture and non-pressing water. Typical applications for elastomer compression seals are for joints in dams, sewage treatment plants, retention basins, underground joints in sewer structures and flood protection walls. This document specifies requirements for the material and installation. Application examples are given in Annex B. This document provides guidance on the selection of various base polymers of elastomer compression seals that can be used when exposed to the following: 1) wastewater; 2) groundwater; 3) drinking water; 4) sea water; 5) ozone loads. This document is not applicable for compression seals made of other materials. This document is not applicable for systems for the storage, filling and transshipment of substances that are hazardous for water, for slurry, liquid manure and silage seepage systems or for biogas systems. This document is not applicable for elastomeric for elastomeric joint profiles made of vulcanized rubber for concrete pavements, which are standardized in DIN EN 14188-3. This document is applicable for sealing up to a uniaxial deformation of ± 10 % with non-pressing water. For a static load with a simultaneous water pressure load of more than 0,4 bar, higher water pressures can also be specified, for example by means of testing, calculations or comparable successful application examples, for example for individual cases in consultation with the building owners and the manufacturer of the compression seal. Working Committee NA 045-02-10 AA "Fugendichtungsprofile" ("Elastomer joint sealing strips") at DIN Standards Committee Elastomer Technology (NET) is responsible for this document.
