About this product

Carpentry and timber construction works

Wood has been and continues to be one of the most important building materials, and its importance is constantly growing alongside sustainable construction, as its renewability and natural charm enjoy great popularity. The specifications for timber construction work, like those for other building materials, can be found in the VOB. This volume brings together the documents from the field of carpentry and timber construction work that are cited in the VOB 2019, as well as some standards that are referred to in STLB-Bau-Leistungsbereich (trade) LB 016. On more than 700 pages, users will find the parts of VOB-C relevant to timber construction — DIN 18299 and DIN 18334 — and documents on materials, implementation, requirements and classifications, dimensions and tolerances. It covers a wide range of possible applications, providing timber construction specialists with a comprehensive working basis for practical use.

In 25 individual standards, DIN Taschenbuch 80 provides information on the following subject areas:

  • Contract conditions
  • Wood
  • Materials containing wood
  • Execution of work

This publication is rounded off by a list of standards on timber construction work not included in this volume.

Extensive updates to the standard reference work on timber construction work

The book brings together the relevant documents for companies that provide services in Germany in accordance with VOB and contains the relevant DIN standards as well as other documents that are cited in STLB-Bau LB 016. Of the 25 printed standards, there is one new standard that has been included and six others that have been revised. This publication is therefore not only the ideal reference work for timber construction projects, but also a treasure trove of knowledge on timber construction technology. Up-to-date documents contain the current state of the trade and standardization and provide the ideal basis for daily professional practice in timber construction.

The 12th edition of “Carpentry and timber construction work” offers you the following new features:

  • DIN 1052-11 now included: The 2022 standard deals with the requirements for prefabricated wall, ceiling and roof elements and is a valuable addition to the collection of standards.
  • Six revised documents: Fundamental revisions have been, for example, to Part 10 of the DIN 1052 series of basic timber construction standards, in which various sections have been significantly revised and new subsections have been added, including those on reaction to fire. DIN 18299 - part of VOB/C, which sets out general regulations for all types of construction work - has been technically revised and contains three new documents. DIN 18334 with the general technical specification for carpentry and timber construction work has also been technically adapted to the development of construction work.

These and other extensive and relevant changes make this compendium of standards an indispensable up-to-date foundation for working.
